Hey there team.

I’ve been mulling this over for a few days, just wondering how much in money and goods and services has been raised, pledged here in Southland for our friends and neighbours particularly in the Hawkes Bay, Tairawhiti region along with Northland and Auckland.

We’ve all seen the film clips on the news, the pics on other news pages as well as others posted on social media.

As far as weather events go, this country has not seen anything like the destruction that Gabrielle has wrought in many a year.

We’ve heard of events and activities like school sports days, church groups, sports clubs dipping in and helping out.

Some of the big players are also running appeals. Stuff has raised over $4m at time of writing, The Warehouse is asking customers to add a dollar. There are plenty more.

So let’s get a handle on who has been doing what and lets see how much you or your group has raised.

This is NOT a post on what the Government is doing, should be doing or could be doing. This is grassroots stuff.
