The main entrance to Invercargill State Highway 1 was closed due to a house fire just off East Road this morning (Wednesday 6th February).
The fire had taken hold and caused extensive damage to the house by the time emergency services arrived.
Police were on the scene sorting traffic management and the road was closed fully for a short time to allow fire trucks and water tankers access.
What’s On Invers received many messages asking what all the sirens were from the emergency services traveling out of town. Another message confirmed that SH1 was closed.
The alarm was raised at 9am this morning that a East Road house was on fire, crews from multiple stations attended.
St John were there but no one required medical treatment.
