It’s always good to start an article like this with a positive.
We are happy to welcome EVO Cycles to Invers.
The Invers store which has just opened, adds to their 30 stores up and down the country and they’ve nabbed a prime city site, the former Graeme Williamson cars site on Gala Street.
They say “Evo Cycles Invercargill is a comprehensive bicycle store catering to cyclists of all experience levels. Our extensive selection encompasses various bike types, including mountain bikes, road bikes, electric bikes, and urban commuter options.
Not only do we stock a huge range of bikes at some of the best pricing around, but our crew can help with expert advice to make sure you get the right bike for your style of riding and ability. Evo Cycles Invercargill also features a full-service center staffed by qualified mechanics to keep your ride in top condition.”
Mike & Kelly dropped by, Kelly even got on a bike.
Check out what they’ve got here, it’s amazing! https://www.evocycles.co.nz/
These people are the people to see about all things bikes.
On a sad note it’s sorry to see that Torpedo 7 will soon close it’s doors. T7 was recently offloaded by owners The Warehouse Group for a measly $1. to new owners Tahua Partners. T7 struggled in recent years with one thing and another and becoming something of a deadweight on the TWG stable of companies. It was probably a factor in TWG CEO Nick Grayston hurriedly exiting stage left in recent weeks.
whatsoninvers.nz were the first and only media outlet to break the story and as at 7:25pm on Saturday evening after another google search no other media outlet has covered it. Mike reached out to T7 HQ at 5pm Thursday and have heard nothing.
“Tahua Partners said it was “delighted” to add Torpedo7 to its business.
The Auckland-based company operated a diverse portfolio of retail and hospitality brands, including Starbucks, Hannah’s Shoes, Burger King and Number One shoes.
“As a 100 percent Kiwi owned and operated business with a passion for retail and hospitality, we believe Torpedo7 complements our family of well-loved global and local brands,”
Now they’re getting rid of 4 stores around the country. Is this the end of the Torpedo 7 brand? Related: Torpedo7 Closes Multiple Stores as Ownership Changes
Also in the sad to see you go column is an old Invers fav, The Canton Restaurant.
The owners John and Susan Yu have been serving the best in Chinese foods for close to 30 years and are heading to a richly deserved retirement.
And in the “change of ownership” category we have Invers own Superbowl.
Local property investor Angela Strang has bought the venue, lock , stock and bowling alley. Angela reportedly will spend a small fortune of refreshing and rejuvenating the venue to make it an attraction that it deserves to be again.
Judging by the facebook page, the change in ownership is already bearing fruit with good bookings coming in. Check it out for bookings here superbowlsouth.co.nz/book-a-lane
Superbowl, now there’s an idea for a mid winter work do.
