More than 1200 people are convoying to Invercargill this week for the 2022 New Zealand Gymnastics Championships, at ILT Stadium Southland. 870-odd athletes have qualified their way to the championships where they will be battling it out over the next four days for national titles in aerobics, men’s and women’s artistic, rhythmic, and trampoline gymnastics.
Some top names to watch include Tokyo 2022 bronze medalist Dylan Schmidt, and fellow trampoline Olympian Maddie Davidson. Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games bound rhythmic gymnasts Paris Chin and, 2021 champion, Havana Hopman. 2021 aerobics champion Brooke Davies, has recently returned from the Aerobics World Championships to defend her title, and the event plays a lead-in for women’s artistic gymnasts Kiera Rolston-Larking and Reece Cobb, who are heading off to the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in October.
