John passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and love on August 22, 2026, after a brief stay at Windsor Park care home. Aged 87.  Dearly loved husband of Helen (nee Horrell) for 64 years. Loved and respected father and father-in-law of Judy and Stan; Diane and Anthony; Steven; Terry and Pam. Adored Granddad of Lisa and Sam, Kylie*, and Stacey; Penni and AJ, Mikayla and Kaea; Karen, John, and Rosie. Cheeky Grandie of Robbie and Olivia; Mason, Marley and Te Ariki; Zyah and Reggae.

A Requiem Mass to celebrate the life of John will be held in the Gore Catholic Church, Ardwick St, on Friday August 28 at 1.30pm. Interment to follow at Charlton Park Cemetery.
