JOHNSTONE, Owen Robert:
10.12.1954 – 20.10.2026
Owen fought a hard fight and left this world on his own terms. He was a true fighter until the very end. Born in Wyndham, Owen was the son of the late
Owen Bertram Johnstone and Patricia Erin Johnstone. He was one of eight
siblings and a much-loved husband, father, poppa Joe and friend. Beloved
husband of Margot Johnstone and cherished father of Deon, Brendon, Rebecca,
David, Aimee, Matthew, Chrissie, and Tessa. A proud grandfather of many,
Owen leaves behind a family who will forever carry his love, memories and
legacy in their hearts.
A message from his loving wife, Margot;
My darling Owen, my heart is broken knowing I have to say goodbye to you.
You fought so hard until the very end, and I am so proud of the strength and
courage you showed. Thank you for the love, the memories, and the life we shared. You will always be a part of me, and no matter how much time passes, you will never be forgotten. Life will never be the same without you by my side, but I will carry you in my heart every single day. Until we meet again, rest peacefully, my darling.
“I love you to the moon and back”.
Fly high, Owen. May you rest in peace. Your legacy will live on forever in
everyone who knew and loved you. A special thank you to all those that were
involved in Owen’s care. A service to celebrate Owen’s life will be held in the
Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street, Invercargill, on Friday 23 October at
2:00pm. Messages to 9 Milford Street, Heidelberg, Invercargill 9812.
