Suddenly, at Lakes District Hospital, Queenstown, on Saturday, 28 March 2026, aged 78 years. Dearly loved husband of Ellen, loved father and father-in-law of Kylee and Shaun (Auckland), Tracy and Chris (Sydney) and Maria (Dunedin). Peacefully, on March 27, 2026, at Dunedin Hospital, in the care of the medical staff in Ward 8B, and formerly, in the loving care of the staff at the Little Sisters of the Poor. Dearly loved Sister of the New Zealand Dominican Sisters. Treasured daughter of George* and Lucy* Bennett, cherished sister and sister-in-law of Owen and Jean, Tony and Donna, Rosalie and Ricky, Bernadette* and Brendan, Danny, Catherine and Philip (Australia). In the 65th year of her Religious Profession. Treasured aunt of all her nieces and nephews and loyal friend to many. Rest in Peace. Mass of Thanksgiving for Joan's life will be held in the Chapel at Sacred Heart Home, 295 Brockville Road, Dunedin, at 11.00am, on Monday, March 30, followed by burial at Green Park Cemetery. CHITTOCK, Paula Yvonne:
On Friday 27th March, Paula passed away peacefully, after a long battle at Hospice Southland with her family by her side. Loved partner of John* Tomlins. Dearly loved daughter of the late Nola and Maurice Chittock. Loved and loving sister and sister-in-law of Jan and Kevin Wheeler, Barry and Janet, Phil and Trish, Wayne and Carolyn, and Jocelyn and Wayne Hansen. Loving aunty and great auntie to all her nieces and nephews and their families. The family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Hospice Southland. The care and support of Paula and our family has been absolutely amazing and words cannot express how grateful we are. As per Paula’s wishes a private cremation has been held. On Saturday March 28th 2026 peacefully passed away at Peacehaven Iona Dementia Unit. Beloved husband of Janet for 62 years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Michael and Nix, Jason, and Craig. Grandfather of Shan* and Zac, Great-grandfather of Saphira and Ruby Rose. Loved son of Florence* and Frank* Earl. Loved brother and brother in law of Mary* and Herb*, Fay, Jill* and Noel*, Deidre and Colin*, Mervyn* and Cheryl, May and Lex, Lynette* and Basil*. Very much loved uncle and great-uncle. Respected life member of the Old Boys Rugby Club (Pirates Old Boys). A service to celebrate Jack's life will be held in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, cnr Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill on Thursday 2nd April at 10am, followed by private cremation. SHARP-HINTON Nicola Anne (nee Sharp):
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Nicola in Christchurch Hospital on Thursday 26th March 2026, aged 59 years. Dearly loved wife and much better half of Geoff. Hugely admired and adored Mum of Hannah and Zoe. Much loved daughter of the late June and Jim Sharp, daughter in law of the late Hazel and Brian Hinton, dearly loved sister and sister in law of Paula and Troy Vasa (Dunedin), Tracy and Andy Yule (Invercargill), Wendy Hinton, Carol Hinton, Claire Hinton and William Hurley (Wellington). Nicola was a fun loving aunty to her nieces and nephews and will be sorely missed by, Isla and Millie, Lucy, Mitchell and Ella, Guy and Julia, and Georgia. Adored woofer Mum of Archie.
