It is with a heavy heart we share the news that our Papa. He has grown his wings and returned home to be with his whānau in the hands of the lord. Loved son of the late Douglas Pu Thompson and Marina (Polly) Edwin. Cherished partner of Vivenne (Lani) Rongonui. Loving dad of Mereana and Omeka, Te Aroha Noa and RJ, Marina and Matt, his bubbly Terina, and Brick (Kaea). Silly Papa to all his mokopuna James, Thalia, Trisha, Kingston, Te Waimirirangi, Te Waiharakeke and Mahalia. Proud Great Papa to his moko moko Ngahuia-Āio. Beloved brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, and friend. Currently laying at Ngā Hau E Whā Marae, 193 Conon Street, Invercargill until his final service held at 10am, Thursday 23rd of April, at Avenal Park Funeral Home. Then the journey to his final resting place at Eastern Cemetery.”
RAE, Donald:
At Dunedin Hospital on April 19, 2026, aged 79. Dearly loved husband and soulmate of Margaret. Loved and respected father and father-in-law of Sharleen and Leon Snoeck, and Malcolm and Holly Rae. Devoted Grandad of Ben, Hannah and Joel; Joshua, Mathew, James, Lachlan and Caleb. In accordance with Donald's wishes a private cremation has been held. Messages to:- 4 Lewin Street, Balclutha 9230.
