BATEMAN, Douglas Stuart (Doug). On December 26, 2018, Doug passed away peacefully at Parata Resthome in Gore; in his 80th year. Dearly loved husband of Jacqueline* (Jackie) for 40 years. Much loved brother and brother-in-law of Gwendoline* (Gwen), Dorothy and Donald* Beccard, and Holmes Harding*. NICOL, Bruce Ralph. Passed away peacefully, but suddenly after a long illness, on Monday, December 31, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. In his 66th year. A dearly and much loved friend of Fiona Balloch. A father who loved all his children: Kenny Nicol (Australia), Carrie-Anne Nicol (Australia), Lindsey Balloch (Christchurch), and Christopher Nicol (Australia). A loved brother and brother-in-law of Mary Hart (Blenheim), John and Lyn Nicol (Gore), Sandy McDonald (Blenheim), and the late Brian McDonald (Timaru), the late Ann Batt (Dunedin), Dorothy and Peter Alloway (Woodend), Bryon and Jane Nicol (Oamaru), and Helena and Neville Boyer (Gore). PEDERSEN, Svend Aage (Svend). (Captain, Jutland Dragoon Regiment (Denmark) and United Nations Military Observation Group in India and Pakistan). On December 29, 2018 after a long illness, aged 87 years. Husband of Sonja for 55 years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Lene and Peter (Auckland), Christine and Ole (Melbourne), and Tracey and Karsten (Queenstown). Loved grandfather and great-grandfather of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Edith (Canada), Eva, Arne Pedersen, Arne Nielsen and the late Esther and late Else. (Denmark). We would to thank all of those people who cared for and supported Svend during his illness particularly Dr Robert Bester, the staff of Southland Hospital, Hospice Southland, Rowena Jackson and members of the Southland Orienteering Club. A service to celebrate Svend’s life will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at 1.30pm at Fraser & Sons, Cnr of Esk and Doon Sts Invercargill. A private cremation will follow. SHEARING, Jamie Charles. Tragically as the result of an accident, on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, aged 17 years. Forever cherished son of Craig and Caroline (Gore), brother and lifelong mate of Hayden (Invercargill), loved grandson of Raymond and Anne Shearing (Riverton), Ian and Margaret Milne (Edendale), and Rosalie* and Tom* Scott (Australia).
