Good friends Chloe Binns and Christina Downey have breathed some new life into Glengarry with their takeaway food and coffee outlet opening last week.
People may remember the Kava Food Invers food truck that was situated originally at the Farmers Market and more recently in Tweed St – they still have it, but have decided to keep that for events.
Now the pair have decided to set up shop and establish themselves more permanently in the city, with their Glengarry cafe offering customers a lot more variety.
There’s bacon butties and bagels and many other hot food items, along with salads and freshly made sandwiches. And freshly made coffee of course.
Kava is the Croatian word for coffee – (and it’s also a traditional Fijian drink), but you won’t find any of that here.
So far they’ve had a really good response to their new cafe in Glengarry, which has helped fill a much needed gap in the local market.
Chloe and Christina first met at a party when another dear friend introduced them. They travelled overseas together and quickly realised they both shared the same easy-going nature, semi-reckless decision making and most importantly work hustle.
“We just complement each other really well.”
Chloe also has 10 years hospitality experience behind her, and Christina just absolutely wings it as she goes. “We’re just keeping it simple and manageable.”
Pop in and see them anytime Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 2pm. The early bird catches the worm!
