Five well-known Invercargill-based musicians are bringing Gods of Woodstock – A Live and Loud Tribute show to the legends, who took to the stage during the iconic Woodstock Festival held in 1969, to entertain spectators for a one-night-only performance on December 9.
During the highly-anticipated show Jason Schmidt (bass, vocals), Morgan Bickley (guitar, saxophone, vocals), Aaron Ives (drums), Michelle Lange (vocals) and Shaun Blackie (guitar, vocals) will entertain the crowd by playing live music from The Who, Credence Clearwater, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Santana and Janis Joplin – to name a few performers, who took part in the original Woodstock Festival.
The city-event is being held at the Invercargill Workingmen’s Club, Corinthian Convention Centre on Saturday, December 9, doors open at7.30pm and the show begins at 8.30pm.
Jason Schmidt says the group had been rehearsing a couple of times a week during the past few months, and as ‘the big night’ approached ‘rehearsal times would increase’.
“It’s just important to all of us that the music is played correctly with the right energy levels. This kind of music deserves that,” Jason said.
“We all bring something different to the show. Morgan is an absolute beast on the saxophone and many people haven’t experienced first-hand what he can do.
“Shaun, Michelle, myself and Aaron have all either performed together or with others including other professional stage shows – and we want to bring an energy and level of professionalism to the music and make sure the expectations of the crowd are met too,” he said.
“And I think that these five people have the right kind of ingredients to do that – it’s going to be huge”.
