A crash on State Highway 98 this morning has closed a stretch of road in Southland after a power pole came down.

SH98 ROSLYN BUSH, SOUTHLAND - CRASH - FINAL UPDATE 12:20PMSH98 is now OPEN after a prior crash between Mill Rd North and Kennington Roslyn Bush Rd.

The closure is between the Mill Road North and Kennington Roslyn Bush Road intersections on SH98/Lorne-Dacre Road. Emergency services are on scene.

A detour is in place. Eastbound drivers should turn right onto Mill Road North, left onto Myross Road, left onto Kennington Roslyn Bush Road, then right back onto SH98. Westbound traffic reverses the route.

State Highway 98 remains closed following a crash this morning.

Police were called to a crash where a car hit a power pole on Lorne Dacre Road, Roslyn Bush, Southland, at approximately 7.50am.

The highway is expected to be closed for the next couple of hours, so motorists will need to take alternate routes.

No injuries were reported.
