New Zealand's country music artist Craig Adams packed out the Glen Country Music Club yesterday — and it was not the first time.
Club secretary Mary Hardy noted it was another full house, pointing out the sign had to go up in May last year and again at this show. She's sure it's Craig drawing the crowd. Hard to argue.
Adams performed as guest artist, backed by the Glen Country Music Club Backing Band — David Glass, Stephen Wilcox, Richie Porter, Geoff Peterson, and Peter Colvin. "It was great show, fun catching up with the other musicians and a great start or warm up to my tour kicking off," Adams said.
The afternoon featured a strong local lineup, with performances from Tracey Stewart, Brendon Mason, Graeme Fraser, Lou Ashton, Paul and Becky Downs, Heather Thacker, David Glass, Russell Osborne, Stephen Wilcox, and Peter Colvin. Maureen Calvert compered the evening.
The Glen Country Music Club has a reputation as a friendly, welcoming venue, and on the evidence of two consecutive sellouts, that reputation is doing its job.
For those who missed it, Adams is not done with Invercargill. He returns on Saturday September 5 at 7.30pm at the Invercargill Workingmen's Club as part of his New Zealand tour. Book early. You have seen what happens to the tickets.
