Following the resignation of Nigel, the city’s mayor Nobby Clark has appointed Cr Grant Dermody as the new lead councillor for the highly anticipated 1225 Museum Project. Cr Dermody, who also serves as the Chair of the Finance and Projects Committee, is renowned for his extensive experience in managing large-scale initiatives.
The 1225 Museum Project, which aims to showcase the region’s rich history and culture, is expected to make significant strides under Cr Dermody’s leadership. His background in finance and project management will prove invaluable in steering the project towards success.
However, with this new appointment comes the challenge of balancing multiple responsibilities. Cr Dermody currently holds a position on the Bluff Community Board, which raises concerns about his ability to effectively manage the workload of both roles. The mayor stated that he will review Cr Dermody’s involvement in the Bluff Community Board at a later stage to ensure that he can continue to excel in both capacities.
It’s is an honour to lead this project on behalf of my fellow councillors and the city. There is a very experienced team in place, that has made an excellent start and I am looking forward to working with them to deliver a Museum that the City and all of Southland is proud of, Dermody said.
Residents of the city are eagerly anticipating the opening of the 1225 Museum, which promises to be a major attraction and a testament to the region’s vibrant history. With the experienced and capable leadership of Cr Grant Dermody at the helm, the project is poised to make significant progress in the coming months.
