Peacehaven Village has completed the concept master plans for its redevelopment, aiming to create a vibrant retirement community for the present and the future. “We are thrilled to share the final concept plans for the redevelopment with the community,” said Matt Russell, the Chief Executive of Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS).
The redevelopment, planned in multiple stages, will introduce at least 35 new two-bedroom units under occupation right agreements (ORA), replacing 50 outdated single-room cottages in the village’s west and central zones. These new units will vary in design, including standalone, duplex, and triplex options, offering a broad range of pricing and configurations.
The designs emphasise modern, spacious layouts that support diverse furniture arrangements. “The size of the grounds and the sense of space onsite is a unique aspect of Peacehaven Village we’ve preserved in our planning,” Mr. Russell remarked.
Flexibility is a key feature of the design, allowing PSS to adapt the unit types in later development stages according to market demand. A communal building, set to be constructed in the second stage, will offer amenities and spaces for social activities, enhancing the community feel of the village.
“PSS is proud of its lengthy history in providing aged care services in Southland. This redevelopment ensures Peacehaven remains a dynamic retirement community, offering stylish, modern, and competitively priced accommodations to meet the evolving needs of its residents for many more years,” Mr. Russell added.
The entire project is anticipated to span three to five years, with the first stage expected to start later this year and conclude in about 18 months. PSS has engaged with village residents to gather feedback on the design and understand their preferences for the planned amenities.
Additionally, in alignment with the redevelopment, PSS is collaborating with community partners to repurpose the existing 50 units, aiming to preserve these facilities within the regional housing stock. After conducting a needs assessment and feasibility study, PSS continues to work with interested stakeholders.
A standalone show unit will commence construction promptly, offering potential buyers a firsthand experience of the new units.
