The SBS Bank Southland Stags have re signed powerful lock Caleb Aperahama.
The former Canterbury Development and Crusaders Academy player played last season with Woodlands before signing with the Stags.
However, Aperahama’s time in the Southland jersey was short lived due to a serious injury in the opening round against Otago.
Despite the unfortunate injury, the experience at Forsyth Barr Stadium, left the 25-year-old wanting more.
“I’m yet to experience playing in a home game, which excites me for the season to come”.
“Being given the chance to live out my childhood dream playing NPC is special. To do it in a province with a strong heritage and even crazier fans makes it even more special. The community support of the Stags is next level” said Aperahama.
For forwards coach David Hall, having Caleb back to show what he’s made of is exciting.
“After a tough run of injuries last year, I know Caleb is keen to get back into his work for Woodys and the Stags this season. He provides us with a big body and the ability to carry over the gain line,” said Hall.
“2022 shapes as a big year for Caleb and we are looking forward to him working hard and putting in this some huge performances this year.”
Caleb will be playing for Woodlands in the Go Bus Southland Wide Senior Rugby Premier Competition, looking to defend the Galbraith Shield title.
