The much-anticipated Motupōhue Adventure Park officially opened over the weekend, welcoming walkers and cyclists to enjoy its scenic trails on Bluff Hill. A mix of seasoned adventurers and newcomers gathered to experience ideal conditions for hiking and biking.
The park features 27 trails, including 16 existing tracks and 11 new additions. Each trail name reflects the region’s cultural heritage, iconic landmarks, and native biodiversity, adding a deeper connection to the area’s identity. Dirt Dynamics, in collaboration with Southern Land, designed the trails to cater to all abilities while showcasing regenerated bushland. Gravel surfaces ensure year-round accessibility, making it a reliable and inclusive recreational space for the community and visitors.
“This project is more than just an adventure park – it’s an investment in Bluff’s future,” noted a spokesperson. The initiative is expected to draw outdoor enthusiasts, support local businesses, and foster a sense of community.
Shuttle vans transported bikers to the top of Bluff Hill throughout the day, offering thrilling descents through lush, scenic trails. Walkers took advantage of newly developed paths, and infrastructure improvements were supported by the Southland Mountain Bike Club.
