Do you have a wannabe Southland basketball player at home during the July school holidays – if so the Southland Basketball Association’s (SBA) Shooters Holiday Basketball Programme might be just the ticket.
SBA development officer Dan Peck who runs the programme, along with players and coaches from SBA and SIT Zero Fees Southland Sharks, said the programme is similar to what the association does during the school term with Southland schools and “is a lot of fun”.
The Shooters holiday programme is a development opportunity for girls and boys from Years 3-10 and held at ILT Stadium Southland on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (July 12-14) from 9am to 3pm each day, during the first week of the July school holidays.
The programme, which splits the ages into two groups for training, Years 3-6 and Years 7-10, caters for individual ability and age groups – while teaching attendees different basketball skills and includes routine workouts, and basic ball-handling skills.
Spaces are limited for the three days and registrations, which close Thursday, July 6, are essential.
