Local artists are being offered the opportunity to create and implement their own original design on one of 11 Chorus cabinets in the city.

Chorus is working with the Invercargill City Council as part of their Chorus Cabinet Art Programme to provide the telecommunications cabinets. The Programme sees the cabinets become works of art in the street, often telling stories about the communities in which they are located and they help discourage tagging.

Anyone is able to submit a design and the artists will be provided with instructions on how to prepare the cabinet and graffiti painting is finished, with payment made once the work is satisfactorily completed.

To be considered, artists must supply an A4 hand sketch of their design, a short description of what the design means and a note about any relevant experience by July 31, 2016.

Chorus will make the final decision on which art works are chosen and it is envisaged that the work will be completed as soon as weather permits.

All finished art will be included on the Chorus website and these completed by mid September will be considered for the 2017 Chorus Cabinet Art Calendar, copies of which are sent around the world.
