April Building Consents – $12m !!

There looks to be plenty of work ahead for anyone and everyone in the building trades in the coming months judging by building consent statistics for April.

Figures released by the Invercargill City Council show that there will be a heap of work coming up with 16 consents for New Commercial or Industrial Buildings.

The 16 consents are worth just under 8 and half million dollars.

What’s more startling is for the same time last year just 5 consents were issued worth just under 4 hundred thousand dollars.

The residential sector also looks buoyant with 14 consents worth $2.3 million were issued. Those figures are roughly on par with April last year.

In total 118 consents worth $12million dollars were issued last month, three times the value compared to the same time last year.
