Last weekend, we again took our 5 bands; Grade 2, G4A, G4B and Juvenile A and Juvenile B bands up to Dunedin for a 2 day contest; The South Island Pipe Band Champs.
In each grade, we competed against bands from up and down the island including Southland, Otago and Canterbury.
Backing up our positive results from our major contest in Christchurch before Christmas, we were able to take home 3 South Island Championships out of 3 for our Grade 2, Grade 4A, and also Juvenile A, with some positive results for our new bands again Grade 4B and Juvenile B.
Again, a lot of work by some key people behind the scenes to take a team of 100 away, but all went very smooth..
We now look forward to our National Championships in 6 weeks, which again will be in Dunedin on the Friday and Saturday 29th/30th March.
Before that, we have a local contest in Queens Park, Invercargill, Saturday the 9th March. So if you want to catch all things Scottish, pop down that day for a look and give these guys some support before they all head off up the road for the big one.
We look forward to our 2020 National Championships in Invercargill next year which will be a massive boost to our scene and region. If any parents have some young budding pipers or drummers, or youngsters are interested in learning pipes or drums and being part of a special organisation, then get in touch with me on [email protected].
We will be starting our new intake of pupils and recruitment over the next few weeks, includes some of the main schools like Boys High and James Hargest, as well as after schools.. Message for more info 🙂
Again thanks to the ILT for their continued support to help us get to where we want to be.. Has been a strong season so far.
