Saturday’s Santa Parade went off without a hitch, in the words of event organiser Alice Pottinger.

The Southland Christmas Parade Charitable Trust has been running the event since 1999 and now organisers and volunteers just know what needs to be done, she said.

Alice said the weather was the big highlight of the day, and of course the thousands of people who came along to support the event.

“It was just wonderful,” she said.

But that’s not the end of the floats for another year. Some of them will move onto other Christmas parades including this Saturday in Winton, Bluff on Sunday and then Gore the following weekend.

And last but not least Riverton will hold its Christmas parade on December 24.
