Invercargill has many hidden gems and Young Reflections games and toy shop is one of those.
Celebrating 32 years in business this year, owner Joy Brown is a strong believer in shopping local, and has many loyal customers who continue to support her.
“But we’re still getting people in here where it’s their first time. They drive past and wonder what’s inside, and often we get word of mouth referrals as well.”
Customers who originally shopped with Young Reflections are now coming back with their grandchildren, and Joy said sometimes it’s good to bring young ones in for gift ideas, to see what they gravitate to.
Young Reflections has an experienced team that have all the knowledge of the latest crazes to offer you an personalised service. And they also offer free gift wrapping.
Stocking books, games and puzzles of every variety, and for all ages, jigsaws are making a real comeback, and they have them in large sizes for people who struggle with small pieces or are sight impaired.
With winter fast approaching, now is a good time to stock up on games that you can play during the colder months, and to help reconnect with family.
“More family time and less screen time is so important nowadays. And learning through play.”
Match Madness is one example of a game stocked exclusively by Young Reflections that has already sold over 560 copies.
“It’s about problem solving, using hands and brains and no technology,” Joy said.
Young Reflections was once just a small shop in the 55 Arcade. The shop then moved to another spot in Tay Street and doubled in size, before finally establishing itself 11 years ago opposite Invercargill Central.
“People often say, ‘thank goodness there is still an old fashioned toy shop from when we were young,” she said.
