Arguably the southernmost point on the planet where it’s being celebrated.
The event originated in the United States and has expanded internationally, with official organizers in the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Europe, Japan, and Australasia. The first event was held in California with Metallica launching the event.

Since its inception, World Record Day (WRD) has grown and spread around the world. Many of the biggest names in the music business like Bob Dylan, Sir Elton John, and Taylor Swift have been appointed as ambassadors — with Sir Elton awarded the title of World Record Store Day Legend and Taylor Swift appointed as the first WRD Global Ambassador, so it’s no small thing.
So get out your old 45’s and LP’s and give ‘em a whirl. It doesn’t have to be rock, jazz, country, classical — any genre will do. Just get the music cranking.
