A Fiordland Medical Practice doctor has confirmed that a second case of COVID-19 in Te Anau is linked to the World Hereford Conference in Queenstown, not community transmission. The conference, which was held in early March, is currently connected to 24 cases.

The doctor posted the confirmation on a community Facebook group nearly one week after the first case and said they were recovering at home. They had also already been self-isolating.

The doctor advised that if anyone had any concerns about their mental and physical health, they could contact the Fiordland Medical Practice. Telephone consultations, triage, and face-to-face consultations, if needed, could be arranged.

Of the 24 people diagnosed with COVID-19 linked to the World Hereford Conference, many were living in the south. Two people from overseas also tested positive.
