Recovering from Saturday and looking for something to do this Sunday?
Make sure you head down to the Marist Rugby Club to watch round two of the Rugby Southland Senior Women’s 10’s. Action kicks off at 1pm and will see all teams play each other for the second week.
Round one saw Blues take the spoils last Friday night, as they chalked up three wins in impressive fashion. The blue and blacks possess speed right across the park with the likes of NZ Black Ferns Sevens Development player Cass Engler and Southland Sevens representative Erica Stevens to name a couple.
Woodlands will be looking to get one up on Blues after pushing them close in last week’s clash. Woodlands will again look to Melissa Fairbairn to lead the way. Fairbairn was one of the best players on display in round one, often breaking the line at will and setting up her team mates on a regular basis.
Wakatipu got better and better throughout their three games last week so expect them to go up another notch this weekend. They have some exciting talent throughout their side and are not afraid to mix it up in the physical exchanges.
Marist will be wanting to register their first win of the competition this weekend after falling just short of Wakatipu in the final match last Friday. The team is packed full of plenty of young exciting talent and will be spearheaded by their experienced captain Stacey Roderique. The green and blacks will be wanting to play some exciting rugby on their home patch.
Make sure you get along and check out the provinces best female rugby players in action.
