As we all know we get a few decent shakes in our neck of the woods most centred in the Fiordland region.
Fortunately there have been no reports of serious damage at this stage and no injuries following the 7.1 magnitude quake.
Residents in some settlements up on the East Coast evacuated to higher ground after the shake but are now heading back home.
However Civil Defence are still urging people to stay well clear of beaches and waterways as the threat of Tsunami is still active.
If you have friends, whanua , family up in the Gisborne, East Coast region get in touch and say hi.
Also make it a priority today check over and top up your survival kit…..fresh batteries for torches, radios etc, food and water, gas bottles etc.
