MCEWAN, Gary Robert:
27/09/1941-23/07/2023
Cherished husband of Pam. Adored dad of Carrie Ann & Mike, Becky, Angela, & the late Suzee & Glen. When I die, may I go where the racehorses go. I don’t want any harping, singing or speeches, such things don’t agree with my style. Where there’s sound of the horses hooves ringing, are the sounds sufficient for me. As per Gary’s wishes there will be no service. Messages to 23 Wyndham Letterbox Road Wyndham or Messages can be left on Garys tribute page www.distinctfunerals.co.nz .
MacKAY, Finlay:
05.10.1936 – 23.07.2023 Finlay was the loved and loving son of Mary* (nee Turnbull) and Finlay* MacKay, brother of Helen and Isobel. He will be deeply missed by his loved and loving wife Barbara of 58 years, along with his children and in-laws: Megan and Grant Scott (Mataura); Finlay and Paula (Canada); Kirsty and Ricky Barnes (USA); Hamish and Liana (Sydney). Adored Grandpa of Lachlan and Beth; Heath and Reilly; Angus and Katie. Brother-in-law of Helen and Peter Were (Perth); Isobel* and Harvey Perkins (Waikana); Linley and John Taylor (Nelson); and John and Beverley Cook (Melbourne). Cherished Uncle Fin of all his nieces and nephews. His family was very important to him. Finlay lived a full and rich life for 86 years, he as always interested and curious about the world and the individuals in it. This led to a wide knowledge, which he enjoyed sharing in, with everyone he met. Some of the main interests in his life were continuing to farm, as the 3rd generation, on the family farm, holding a private pilot’s license for 37 years, cavalcading for 22 years, hunting, boating, fishing, traveling, his faithful dog Pip, astrology, Tui’s and Bellbirds, Rodeo Timekeeper, country music, poetry and much more. As well as direct family, he will be sorely missed by his neighbours, cavalcade and flying ‘families”. After a private cremation an informal memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2.30pm, at the Mataura Rugby Clubrooms. In lieu of flowers, donations for the Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust and Mataura Rodeo Club would be appreciated. Messages to 305 Crawford Road, RD2, Gore 9772.
