HENDERSON, Catherine Agnes (Cathie):
Peacefully at Rowena Jackson Rest Home on Thursday, 18th May 2023. Aged 82 years. Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late Leo. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Wayne & Sue Edgerton, Maree Kerr, Julie & Greg Erskine, and Richard & Susie. Loved Nana of her 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Cathie’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street on Wednesday, 24th May at 1:00pm. The service will conclude with the interment at the Eastern Cemetery. KNOWLES, Allen Richard:
Born August 22, 1945 in Gore (Southland, NZ). Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday May 20, 2023, aged 77, surrounded by family. Beloved son of Fred and Jean Knowles, brother of Donald and Ralph Knowles. Much treasured husband of Beverly (nee Batt) and adored father of Callum, Oliver and Francine. Long-suffering Pop to Thomas, Connor, Logan and Charis. Much loved father-in-law of Jan, Paula, Natalia, Bronwyn and Chris. Cherished family member of the extended Batt family. An Auto Electrician by trade that could fix anything, with a cheeky smile as he served his family and community as Marshall for Marching competitions, Head Fly-man on the original Civic Theatre set up and long-serving member of the Voluntary Fire Police. Allen was cremated in Invercargill on Monday May 22. A Life Celebration (memorial service) will be held the afternoon of Saturday June 24th and you are all welcome to come and celebrate the man, the myth and the legend (location TBA).
RIDDELL, Geoffrey Charles:
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Geoff the checkered flag has fallen for the last time. Unexpectedly he took his last breath on Saturday 20th May 2023. Greatly loved by his Family near and far. Dearly loved husband of Margaret. Loved Dad of Theresa, Debbie, Annette, Steve and a much-loved Grandpop and Poppy of all his Grand and Great Grandchildren. A much-loved brother, brother- in-law and uncle of his extended family. A service to celebrate Geoff’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street on Thursday, 25 th May at 10:00am.
