Peacefully with his loving family by his side in the care of Bupa Ascot on Sunday, 11th August 2024, aged 80 years. Dearly loved father, father-in-law and grandfather of Maria, Karen, Steven, Helena and their families. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street on Wednesday, 14th August at 11:00am, the service will conclude with the interment at the Eastern Cemetery. Peacefully at Southland Hospital on Friday, August 9, 2024. Aged 86 years. Loved son of the late Robert (Bob) and Edith (Edie) Thompson. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Sylvia and Neil Wyeth (Invercargill), Catherine and Allan Brown (Otautau), Nelson* and Kathy* Greaney, Vernon and Maggie (Te Anau). A loved uncle and great and great-great uncle to his nieces and nephews. Will be missed by his many friends who have looked out for him. “A Great Out Doors Man” A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, Cnr Esk and Doon Streets Invercargill on Monday August 19 at 11.30am. In lieu of flowers donations to the Hollyford Conservation Trust can be made at the service.
