Peacefully on Saturday, 20th January 2024. Dearly loved soul mate of the late Bill. Loved and respected mother and mother-in-law of Jim and Jacquie, Don and Jane, and Nicoll* and Roman. Respected grandmother of Sam, Matthew, Siobhan, Isabelle, Thomas, Lucy and great grandmother of Indie, Arthur, and Johnnie. A service to celebrate Alison’s life will be held at The Hideaway 201, 201 Lochiel Branxholme Road, Lochiel on Monday, 29th January at 1:30 pm, the service will conclude with a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Southland would be appreciated and may be left at the service. McCARTHY, Michael John (Mike):
Peacefully passed away after a long illness. Beloved husband to the late Anne McCarthy, stepdad to Emma and Graeme, beloved Papa to Angus, Ruairidh, and Isla, David and Abbie and Bobbie and Connor, Avah, Bella and Maisie. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday 24th January 2024, aged 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Eric. Much loved mum of Bernice, Gini and Daniel, Erin and Ian, and Ainsley and Colin. Treasured and much loved nan of Baxter and Otis, Izaak and Lachie, and Max. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Dot and Beau, Alex, Eunice and Bryan, Ailsa and Ray, Cliff and Shirley, and Athol and Isla. Loved aunt of Lynley and Jo, Ceri and Jane, Wendy and Lynley, and Augus. A Memorial Service and celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, cnr. Esk and Doon Streets, at 1 pm, on Saturday February 10, 2024. PUREY-CUST, John Richard:
Peacefully at Parata Resthome, Gore on Tuesday January 23, 2024, aged 89 years. Fellow of the NZIF and life member of NZFFA; a true Forester with a lifetime interest in all things trees. John loved fishing and duck shooting and developing Purey-Cust Park’s mixed forest. He was a widely read, generous, wise, and humorous man and an amazing storyteller. Special thanks to the loving, caring staff at Parata. A memorial gathering will be held at Parata Resthome, 39 Kitchener Street, Gore on Monday March 4, 2024, at 1.30 pm. On Friday, 26 January 2024, with her devoted family by her side. Loving wife of Des*, wonderful mother and mother-in-law of Diane and Geoff Withington, Robyn and Graeme Hodge (Christchurch), Janine and Andy Boniface, special nana to Aidan and Jessica, Alysha and Chris, Gemma and Matt, Arran, Madeleine, and Kayla. Passed away peacefully at Vickery Court Retirement Village on Sunday 21st January 2024, with her loving daughters by her side, aged 97 years. Dearly loved wife of the late John for 73 years. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Russell and Pam, Keith, Carol and Gil Dudley, Jude and Ken Black, and Alan and Christine Baird. Loving great-nana to 15 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
