Loyal and loved husband of Cath for 58 years, loved Dad and father-in-law of Darlene and John, David and Sarah, respected Fawlty and Grandad of Emma, Sarah, and Robert Williams, Michael, and Grace Beattie, loved Great-Grandad of Harrison, loved son of *Irene (née Pluck) and *Tom, loved brother and brother-in-law of *Daphne and *Tom Miller, *Esmond and Sylvia Beattie, loved brother-in-law of *Allan Bagrie, Ivan and Helen Bagrie, Loved uncle to all his nieces and nephews. The family of Bill, Patsy, Mark, Brent, Scott* and Craig and their families thank everyone who attended Bill’s Funeral, sent cards, watched the live screening of the funeral, gave us flowers and food and visited the family at the time of Bill’s passing. A special thanks to the staff at Rowena Jackson’s Donovan and Salisbury wards who cared for Bill in those days when he was needing hospital care, and to Kew Hospital for looking after Bill in those final days. KATTENBERG, Ada Beatrice (nee Powell):
Passed away peacefully January 8, 2023 at the Charles Fleming Retirement Village, Waikanae, in her 97th year. Born at Llangunllo in Wales. Ada came to NZ in 1946 as a War Bride. She was the beloved wife of the late Dirk Kattenberg and the late Roy Ashworth, Paraparaumu. Also remembering her late fiancé Mervyn Davis RNZAF 427103 of Invercargill. Died on Active Service 17 March 1945 and buried at Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany. Loved mother and mother-in-law of the late Marie Porter (Aust), and Margaret and Mike Fraser (Auckland). Grandmother and Great-Grandmother of many. Special thanks to Ba and Staff for their care and support to Ada and family. In accordance with Ada’s wishes, a private cremation has already been held. It is with much sadness the we announce the passing of our beautiful Faye on Sunday 8 January 2023, aged 83. Eldest daughter of George Reko* and Elizabeth Mary (Molly)* Amos. A dearly loved and respected sister of Aileen* and Doug* McNaught, and adored “Fazey Wazey” of her youngest sister Lorraine “Bugsy” and John* White (Mataura). Loving wife to Colin* and loving mother to Stewart and Veronika (Berlin, Germany). Dearly loved Mum of Fi and Andrew Smith (Invercargill), and cherished Nana Faye of James, George, and Tom. Much loved Aunty Faye to all her nieces and nephews. As per Faye’s wishes a private farewell was held on Friday 13 January. Until then, Faye is resting in the special care of J Fraser & Sons, cnr Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill. An open Committal Service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday 1 March at Mataura Cemetery where her ashes will be interred.
