Is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gilbert (Gil), on Friday 3 January 2025, in the loving care of Rowena Jackson Rest Home, with his loving family by his side, aged 81 years. Dearly loved husband and soulmate of 51 years to Carol Leishman, who will miss his smile but never forget it. Brother and brother-in-law of Robert and Jen, Margret*, Doreen*, Avelda and Lex Howie. Olde-Olthof Ferdinand Gerard James (Fred):
Fred passed away peacefully at the Rowena Jackson Retirement Village, Invercargill on January 3rd 2025, aged 96. His wife Margaret of 72 years was by his side. He is fondly remembered by all his family, his friends and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren here and overseas. The family thank all the staff and management of the Rowena Jackson Retirement Village for the care and support of Dad and Mum through this difficult time. A service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held on January 9th at the Sacred Heart Church, 449 North Road Waikiwi, Invercargill, commencing at 11am, followed by interment at the Eastern Cemetery. After a short battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday January 4, 2025, loving mother and adored nana of Bruno and Sophie; Jodie and Shea, Mindy, Joel, and Heath McGorlick; Talia and Matthew, Brayden, and Pixie Swney; Harley and Kylie, Emma, Conroy, and Lily Ross. A service to celebrate the vibrant life of Lizzie will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2025, at the Gore RSA, Function Room, Bowler Avenue, at 2.00 pm, with an afternoon tea to follow at 4.00pm. On Friday, January 3, 2025 passed away peacefully after a short illness, in Dunedin, aged 67 years. Loved husband of Janet Russell nee Hemi, loved father and stepfather of Sharmaine, Korianna, Nina, Shanelle, Shaun, Kylie, Tara, Vanessa, Raymond, Elizabeth, Angela, loved Pōua of all his mokopuna. Loved son of Leslie and Violet Russell nee Muir, loved eldest brother of eight siblings, loved grandson of Thomas and Henrietta Fredrick nee Taiaroa*. Loved uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
