Passed away peacefully in the care of Rowena Jackson on Friday, September 13, 2024. Aged 83 years. Dearly loved husband of Kathleen. Much loved and respected father and father-in-law of the late Richard and Sharon, Elizabeth and Shayne Blomfield. Treasured “Pa” of Ashleigh and Holly; Jacob and Lydia. A loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle to his nieces and nephews.

MATAIRA, Susan:
19 October 1960 – 13 September 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Susan (Sue) Mataira, who left this world with her devoted husband, Colin, by her side. Sue was a cherished wife to Colin and a beloved mother to her daughters Starajean and Tia, and her son Rocky. She was a proud grandmother to her treasured grandchildren, Nikaya, Dakota, and Noema, who brought immense joy to her life. Sue's love, and strength and bright personality will forever be missed by her whānau and friends. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love, humour and deep connections. A service to celebrate Sue's life will be held in Invercargill. The date and details will be confirmed soon. National Wildfire Advisor. Unexpectedly, at home, on September 11, 2024; aged 63 years. Very much loved husband of Gayle, loved and loving father and father-in-law of Kelly, Jardena and Ben. A loved son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle of his extended family, and a much missed friend and colleague of many. Passed peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, September 13, 2024; aged 68 years.
