Aged 101 years. Passed away peacefully in the care of Bupa Windsor Park Care Home, Gore on Monday May 27, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Trevor Burden. Daughter of Charlie* and Laura* Cooper. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Fred* and Nell, Allan and Glemis, Bruce and Margaret, Rura and Tex* Smith, Rob* Mancer, Joan and Russell Troon. Loved and cherished aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt of her nieces and nephews. CARMICHAEL, Alwyn Maree: (nee McLean)
Peacefully at Southland Hospital, Invercargill on Wednesday May 29, 2024. In her 80th year. Devoted wife of Allen for 53 years, and much-loved mother and mother-in-law of Sue and Pete Wilson. Loving and proud Nana of Emma, Ella and Chez. A loved sister and sister-in-law of Melva* and Bob Rogers, Alister and Marg* McLean, Margaret McDermott, Joyce and Murray Turner. Loved Aunty of all her nieces and nephews. The family are very grateful to the staff of Southland Hospital for their care and compassion to Alwyn. A service to celebrate Alwyn’s life will be held in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, cnr. Esk and Doon Streets, at 11am, on Tuesday June 4. Followed by a private interment at the East Winton Cemetery. GRIEVE, Catherine Thorburn (Cathy) (nee Furie). Cathy peacefully left us on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, aged 80 years. Beloved husband of Jimmy for 60 years, much loved mother and mother-in-law of James and Denise (Auckland), John and Lizzy (Cromwell), Elizabeth (Wellington), Andrew (Wellington), Stephen and Nadia (Invercargill), and David (Cromwell), loved Grandma Cathy of James, Maxzara, Finnbar, Julie, Madison and Estella and great-Grandma of Cooper. Beloved daughter of the late Catherine and Robert (Paistey, Scotland), loved sister of Johnny, May, Margaret, and the late Robert (Bobby).

Requiem Mass to celebrate Cathy’s life will be held in the Catholic Church of the Irish Martyrs, 5 Sligo Street, Cromwell, on Tuesday, 4 June, at 1:00pm, followed by interment in Cromwell cemetery. Rosary will be held in the Church on Monday, 3 June, at 5:00pm.

Unexpectedly at Gore Hospital on Tuesday May 28, 2024. Aged 79 years. Much loved husband of Kay for 55 years. Loved father and father-in-law of Jason and Molly (Sydney), Steven and Andrea (Cromwell) loved grandad of Jamie, and Liam (Wellington), Thea, and Phoebe (Cromwell) loved brother and brother -in-law of David (Invercargill), Edith and Colin (Wellington) and loved uncle of all his
nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Ardwick Street, Gore on Friday May 31, at 1.30 pm, followed by a private cremation. WILKS, Shona Margaret:
Unexpectedly on Wednesday 29 May 2024. Dearly loved wife of Robin, much loved mother and mother-in-law of Tania and Ken McConnell, Robin and Margaret, Dean, Tui and Carlo Lombardi. Loved nana and great nana of all her grandchildren. Loved aunty of all her nieces and nephews. Shona will be resting at home until her service which will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street Invercargill on Saturday 1 June at 10.00am. Interment to follow at the Eastern Cemetery.
