GRIEVE, James:
Jimmy peacefully left us on Monday, January 6, 2025; aged 87 years. Beloved husband of the late Cathy for 60 years, much loved father and father-in-law of James and Denise (Auckland), John and Lizzie (Cromwell), Elizabeth (Wellington), Andrew (Wellington), Stephen and Nadia (Invercargill), and David (Cromwell), loved Grandpa Jimmy of James, Maxzara, Finnbar, Julie, Madison, and Estella, and great-Grandpa of Cooper. Beloved son of John* and Janet* loved brother of Robert* (Rab), Elizabeth* (Betty), Margaret*, John* (Jackie), Janet (Jeanette), Patricia*, and Louise* (all of Paisley, Scotland).
May he Rest in Peace with Cathy. Requiem Mass to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held in the Catholic Church of Irish Martyrs, 5 Sligo Street, Cromwell, on Monday, January 13 at 1.00pm, followed by interment in Cromwell Cemetery. Rosary will be held in the Church on Sunday, January 12 at 7.00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations kindly accepted for the Little Sisters of the Poor and may be left at the service. Phil passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, aged 94 years. Loving husband of Betty for 71 years. Loved son of the late Philip and Annie Ryan. Loved father of Christine, Stephen, David, and Heather and father-in-law of Paul*. Loved grandfather of Duncan, Vanessa, Luana, Clancy, Stevie, Jimmy, Heather, Haley, Melissa, Michael, Sean, Samantha, Liam, Matthew, and Adam. Great grandfather to his thirteen great grandchildren. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Stanley* & Janie*, George* & June, Merna* & Jack*, Erin & Peter*, Rodney (Hom) & Shirley*, Patsy & Ron*, John & Margaret*, Billy & Edith, Duncan & Vicky, Rex & Mary, Nigel & Lou. Loved uncle, cousin and friend to many. A service for Phil will be held at the Avenal Park Funeral Home 75 Fox Street, Avenal Invercargill at 1:00pm on Monday, January 13, followed by a burial at Green Point cemetery.
