A front, preceded by gale westerlies, and followed by gale southwesterlies is forecast to move north across the lower South Island this (Sunday) afternoon.
Gales west to southwest winds may become severe in exposed parts of coastal Southland including Stewart Island, Clutha and Dunedin and a Watch is in force.
