The All of Government COVID-19 National Response will provide an update at 1.00 pm today.

Live update:

  • There are now 282 reported cases of people who’ve recovered from Covid-19.
  • There are 12 people in hospital, including four in intensive care.
  • The new total of cases is 1210
  • Two people are in critical condition in hospital.
  • There were 4098 tests processed yesterday, the highest number so far.
  • Seventeen nurses and seven doctors have Covid-19. Some of the cases were linked to overseas travel.
  • Ardern says Air NZ has now made 17 flights supported by the government funding, taking food overseas and returning with things like PPE. The airline is due to undertake 18 flights next week.
  • PM Jacinda Ardern says she’s cautiously optimistic we’re starting to turn a corner.
  • With schools back next week, beginning in term 2, Ardern says it will look different than normal because of Covid-19.
  • An extensive education package will be announced by the Finance Minister after this media conference.
  • Churches and other places of worship will stay closed over Easter weekend.
    “Please do stay at home and save lives,” says Ardern.
  • Ardern says she cannot give a definitive answer as to whether the lockdown will be extended.
  • But she says she has cautious optimism, needing more data before decisions can be made.
