There is certainly no time to rest for the team at Riverside Speedway with the Hydraulink War Of The Wings Sprint Car Series returning to the deep South for the first time in a number of years.
The high horse powered show class grade is often preferred to as ” Formula 1 on dirt” will bring over twenty cars to Riverside Speedway to contest round eight of the eleven round series and defending champion Jamie “Duffman” Duff will be looking to creep back up the points ladder where he currently sits second just four points behind Connor Rangi of Nelson.
Duff a former New Zealand Sprintcar Champion is a crowd favorite and leaves everything he has on track, thrilling the big crowds of fans that follow the series, while Rangi is relatively new to the sport, hailing from Youth Mini Stocks and only having completed just one full season of Sprintcar racing, but a bright future awaits him.
Luke Keegan of Christchurch sits third in standings, Keegan is a three time New Zealand Modified Champion and is a major threat to both Duff and Rangi as he sits just twenty one points behind the leader.
Local fans will be able to get behind Daniel McKinnel who is the sole representative from the Riverside club, but for both Kyle Shearing of Cromwell and Brent Gaudion of Christchurch it will be a home coming of sorts with both drivers cutting their teeth on the Invercargill track.
Racing for the Hydraulink War Of The Wings kicks off at 5pm, but ensure you get to the circuit early as the entrants will be doing qualifying laps from 4.20pm to determine grid positions for the nights racing.
