Update: NZTA advise the road is cleared and now open.
Police are on the scene of a fatal crash in Southland.
The collision, between a car and a truck, occurred on State Highway 96, Browns to Hedgehope and Springhills intersection shortly after 7pm.
One person died at the scene, another sustained minor injuries.
Detour route: For Northbound use, Rakahouka-Hedgehope Road, onto Grove Bush-Woodlands Road, onto Tussock Creek-Grove Bush Road, onto Springhills-Tussock Creek Road, back onto SH96. Reverse for Southbound.
