There have been two new cases of Covid-19 reported in New Zealand today, none in the Southern region now for 21 consecutive days.
Total number of cases in Southern as of 09 May 2020: 216 (confirmed and probable).
8 are active cases, 206 now recovered and two deceased.
The most recent case in the Southern district was reported on 18 April. Since then there have been no new cases in the district.
In a release from the Health Ministry this afternoon, it said the cases were one confirmed and one probable case.
Both cases are linked to the St Margaret’s Hospital & Rest Home cluster in Auckland.
There will be no live media briefings from the Ministry this weekend. They will resume on Monday.
There were two new cases of the coronavirus reported yesterday, including a nurse a who had been caring for St Margaret’s cluster patients.
