Police have arrested two youths following an aggravated robbery at a convenience store in Invercargill.
The incident took place at around 3.30am on Monday, 24 March, when four individuals entered the On the Spot Collingwood Foodcentre on North Road. Two of the offenders were reportedly armed with knives, while another carried a tyre iron. Related:
The group targeted cigarettes and tobacco before leaving the scene in a vehicle. Fortunately, the two store employees were unharmed but understandably shaken by the ordeal.
Following a series of enquiries, Police carried out search warrants at two Invercargill properties, which resulted in the arrest of two youths.
The arrested individuals are set to appear in the Invercargill Youth Court tomorrow, facing charges of aggravated robbery.
Police continue to investigate the incident and have indicated that further arrests are likely.
