- Paving of Queens Drive from the Herbert Street roundabout to Gala Street starts Monday, expected to take six days, contingent on weather conditions.
- The Branxholme Pipeline Upgrade progresses with work on Russel Street, leading to specific road closures and restrictions over three weeks.
- Traffic management measures will be in place for both projects to minimize disruption and maintain public safety.
The Invercargill City Council wishes to inform residents of upcoming roading projects that will commence this Monday.
Here’s what you need to know to navigate the changes:
We’re starting with an upgrade on Queens Drive, from the Herbert Street roundabout through to Gala Street. This project is expected to last six days, weather permitting.
Traffic management will be in effect, guiding you safely around the work zone. Note that access to Queens Park and the Herbert Street roundabout will be temporarily closed during this period. We appreciate your patience and understanding as these improvements are made.
In tandem, we’ll also begin work on the Branxholme Pipeline Upgrade along Russel Street. This will result in the closure of the road between Duke Street and Lewis Street for three weeks.
Traffic on Lewis Street will not be affected and will remain open in both directions. However, the intersection at Russel and Duke Streets will be closed, and Duke Street access to the Gladstone area will be restricted.
Residents of this section of Russel Street will not have vehicle access to their homes, but pedestrian access will be maintained. Affected households have been notified via letter. For more information go here
