Mal’s Music Memory – Special Edition. Tom Petty Tuesday
Talk about a bolt from the blue. Tom Petty struck down and at time of writing not expected to survive.
The singer, song writer, guitar playing story teller was found unconscious at his Malibu home and rushed to hospital. It’s widely reported that his life support system was turned off earlier today and remains gravely ill.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers created a raw unique sound with their Rickenbacker guitars and lyrics that spoke for as Tom put it “America’s losers and fighters and dreamers”.
Many of us will remember the Tom Petty & Stevie Nicks duet Stop draggin My Heart Around.

Tom was also part of the Traveling Wilburys a British-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. The band recorded two albums, the first in 1988 and the second in 1990, though Orbison died before the second was recorded.
