There was a smaller field in this race , 17 cars faced the starter. There was some that dropped out during the race due to either mechanical failure or through  race damage.   John Wadsworth and Wayne Croft from Blenheim were well through the race and had the bad luck to have an incident in their very immaculate Chevy Cruze and it went on fire -however prompt action by the
well trained first responders  and marshalls  at the track limited the fire damage and the driver got out safely.

The weather had improved for this race .

Like the one hour race competitors were from all over NZ and included two
from Australia.

FIRST

Well known local businessman Scott O’ Donnell and his team mate Allan Dippie took the winning slot in the race in their Porsche GT3 Cup S.

SECOND

Second place was Matt Carter and Dwayne Carter from Auckland in a V8 Falcon (An ex V8 Supercar)

THIRD

Third place went to George and Angus Mc Farlane from Christchurch in their Porsche GT3 .

Inky Tulloch and John McIntyre were to have competed in their Chev Camaro GT3 but unfortunately it was damaged in practice on the Friday and could not race, instead they raced in a very rapid and very reliable Honda Integra finishing 5th in the race.

The race was the first round in the South Island 3 hour Endurance series.
