Young Reflections owner Joy Brown is celebrating 30 years in business this week, and there will be plenty of instore giveaways for customers.

Reflecting on her time in business, she said it was lovely that the parents who she sold to when she first started, now have their children coming in to buy, with three generations coming through.

“And that’s why we get so many repeat customers.”

Board games and puzzles are still as popular as ever, and sales has been strong right through the pandemic, with shipping delays just part of everyday business.

Joy was having to source overseas products as early as March for the Christmas rush, and people were learning to stock up earlier for December.

Already in August customers have been coming in looking for stocking fillers, not wanting to risk stock running out, she said.

“The shipping is actually going to get worse.  Factories in China had to close down earlier this year, trying to stamp out another outbreak, so that meant everything was behind.  Covid-19 has also had a huge impact on manufacturing.”

Young Reflections was once just a small shop in the 55 Arcade.  The shop then moved to another spot in Tay Street and doubled in size, before finally establishing itself nine years ago in the main part of the city.

Specialising in high quality games, arts and crafts, puzzles as well anything to do with science,  they also cater for Christmas party gifts for businesses – an area they want to expand on.

This week instore there is 25% off Sluban,  25% off Connect It, 25% off water beads, with instore lay-by available.

Any Bruder product sold will also receive a free mug, and every purchase goes into the daily prize draw to win a prize – with a major draw next Monday (all kindly donated by suppliers).
