It’s official.
Rod Stewart has announced that he will be rockin’ Forsyth Barr Stadium next year.
Sir Rod was down to do a show in Dunedin, but the pandemic struck , the show was off, and that was that. We were Rodless, so to speak.
However great news to cap off a week, Sir Rod will be bringing The Hits tour, his last world tour, for one rollicking show on April 5th with special guest Cindi Lauper. Remember Cindi? Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Time After Time and heaps of other hits.
In a statement Rod says “I’m so excited to return to your heart-stoppingly beautiful country. It’s been far too long since I performed there and I’m eager to celebrate being back with my Kiwi fans on my last major rock tour of New Zealand. And, with Cyndi Lauper on board, it’s going to be quite a bash!”
You’re sure to get yer monies worth as well as Rod doing as many hits as he can shake a stick at, promoters Live Nation say Cindi Lauper will perform for an hour.
The wild carousing days have long gone and Rod is now a model railway fanatic for many years, maybe he’ll have a peak at some model railway setups while he’s in the south.
Also on the bill is former Kiwi rocker Jon Stevens. It’ll be a cracking show.
Christmas stocking ideas? General public tickets go on sale at 11am next Friday, November 25.
In other entertainment news according to reports Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band will be coming back to New Zealand.
While there is no announcement yet regards dates and venues reports suggest it’ll probably be next summer.
Bruce Springsteen told SiriusXM Radio “We’re eventually going to get to Australia and New Zealand, and back around again”.

Another artist that is a definite and coming to to Invers is Don McLean.
The singer-songwriter-storyteller is heading this way on his 50th Anniversary American Pie tour, honouring the day the music died.
Don McLean performs at The Civic Theatre on May 4th next year. Ticket details to be announced soon.
His anthem American Pie is about to take on a new life as it will be used in The Avengers Black Widow and the Tom Hanks movie BIOS.
There’s also Elton John in the new year and Billy Joel doing one show in Auckland in a week or so plus plenty more.
