On Saturday the Teretonga Park race meeting kicked off with a day full of surprises due to changing weather conditions. The event started under a warm and dry sky, but soon, light rain transformed the early races. The track dried up temporarily, only for steady rain to return later in the day, adding an extra layer of challenge for the racers.

In the OSCA Super Saloons, Dunedin’s Brian Scott showcased his skill by leading his Porsche 997 to victory, overcoming his third-place start to finish 11 seconds ahead of Cameron Jones. Jones, driving a turbocharged Mazda RX7, secured second place, followed by Cameron Davies in third.

The South Island Formula Ford Championship was less affected by the weather, leading to a captivating race. Seb Manson from Auckland emerged victorious after overtaking early leader Caleb Byers. Dylan Petch rounded out the top three following a close contest with Izaak Fletcher, who faced a setback due to a penalty.

Piers Mingham took the top spot in the Pre 78 Classic Saloons race, driving his Escort MK1 to victory on a dry track. He was closely followed by Gavin Jackson in a Triumph 2500 and Monty McHaffie in a Ford Capri.

The 2K Cup South Island Championship made its debut at Teretonga Park with William McDonald winning in a Toyota Corolla. A restart was necessitated due to an on-track incident, but McDonald managed to clinch the win ahead of Greg Barclay and Michael Gunstone.

In the SS Cup, James Black dominated in his Honda Civic, maintaining a nearly 10-second lead despite a mid-race interruption. Greg Wilson and Dave McLean followed in second and third places, respectively.

The Pre 65 Saloon race saw Corey Ross execute a stunning maneuver in his Mustang, taking the lead under damp conditions. Despite a spin by Garry Price, Ross secured victory, followed by Mark Burrows and Tim McCullough.

The Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloons race was impacted by rain after a delay, but Jordan Michels triumphed in his Marc Mustang. Kyle Dawson and Jimmy Liemburg completed the top three.

In the Mini 7 South, Daniel Lamb took advantage of Justin Neill’s absence, winning the race ahead of Adam Box and Logan Pelling.

The Pro 8 NZ Saloons and NZ Six Saloons races were both held in damp conditions. Bradley Dawson and Cory Stewart emerged as winners in the Pro 8 NZ Saloons, while Mick Ross and Cody Welch led the NZ Six Saloons races.

The event continues with an exciting lineup of 23 races. Tickets for tomorrow’s action are available for $30, with free entry for children under 14 accompanied by an adult.
