Over the past two weeks Police have executed a number of search warrants in the Western Southland area targeting drugs and firearms offences.

A number of arrests were made including cannabis importation, cultivation and dealing offences as well as unlawful possession of firearms.

So far, seven people have been arrested, two women and five men have been arrested and more people are to be interviewed. Seven people have been arrested, two women and five men.

Of those arrested, many have been bailed to appear before the courts at a later date.

Police will have a continued focus on this type of offending into 2019, Detective Regan Fahey said.
