A 25-year-old man from Tapanui has been arrested and charged with a string of offences related to the sale and distribution of Class A, B, and C drugs. The charges cover operations spanning Southland, Otago, and Central Otago regions.
The man’s arrest, carried out by Roxburgh Police, follows an investigation triggered by a crash in August 2024. When police responded to the accident, they discovered cannabis and methamphetamine in the vehicle. Since then, efforts to track the man’s alleged drug activity have been ongoing.
This recent development comes after the October 2024 arrests of a man and woman in Southland by the Invercargill Organised Crime Unit, with support from the Armed Offenders Squad. The pair, aged 40 and 30, were charged with drug and firearm offences and are currently facing legal proceedings.
According to police, investigations are continuing, and more arrests could be made. Authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to contact their local police station or call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
